2008 Philadelphia Film Festival News
Looks like the Film Society has released some early news on some of this year's film festival offerings:
"Brick Lane, a family drama about a Bangladeshi-British family living in London and which was a surprise hit at the Toronto Film Festival; Irena Palm, Marianne Faithfull is a standout as an older woman who has an unconventional job in a seedy sex club; The Pope’s Toilet, an Uruguayan comedy/drama about an impoverished town’s preparations for a visit by the Pope; and a film which will spark debate and discussion, the fascinating Jesus, The Spirit of God, an Iranian film which chronicles the story of Jesus Christ as told through the writings in the Koran; Red Elvis, a documentary about American singer and activist Dean Reed who emigrated to East Germany in the 1960s; and for those Danger After Dark fans, Confession of Pain, an invigorating Hong Kong action film with stunts that would make Jackie Chan proud!"
Haven't heard anything about any of these films but Jesus, The Spirit of God certainly seems interesting to me. I can't believe the festival is less than 3 months away!
